How mercenary classes work
Active perks trigger automatically when their conditions are met. Passive perks remain active and gain experience when the operator performs the behavior named by the perk.
Additional classes come from Class Chips found as loot, mission rewards, or faction trade. That makes availability part of any practical recommendation.
