Target farming: a category match is only the first check
The September 2 community loot investigation distinguishes container-specific loot from general floor loot. A matching station category alone is therefore a weak reason to spend a long journey looking for one item. Check the destination's container types, mission type, enemy faction and current Technology together.
The discussion also contains questions about chip eligibility and model accuracy. We have not reproduced its numerical drop estimates. Treat a community calculator as a shortlist of places to investigate, then compare it with your current game and keep a trade or reward route available.
OFFICIAL GAMEPLAYBuild a route for one missing item
| Check | What to record | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Exact item | Name and whether you need a chip, component, container or finished item | Avoid farming a similarly named substitute |
| Acquisition channel | Production/trade, mission reward, specific container or general loot | Use the channel the reference actually describes |
| Destination | Station, mission type, Technology and observed containers | Do not treat category overlap as a guaranteed drop |
| Travel and replacement kit | Days spent, required supplies and a fallback objective | Prefer a useful mission even if the target does not appear |
A practical search loop
- 01
Pick one bottleneck
Open the blocked ship project and record the exact missing item and count. Search that item in the Item Finder before packing.
- 02
Compare loot with supply
Read the current Stock Exchange manufacturer and consumer information, then compare reachable trade stock and mission rewards with a proposed loot route.
- 03
Log the actual result
Record the mission, station, faction, Technology and containers encountered. A single empty run does not prove that an item cannot drop.
- 04
Stop carrying unrelated materials
Reserve space for the missing item and a replacement loadout. Change route when travel or repeated kit losses cost more than the expected upgrade is worth.
Trace an item from name to contract
- 01
Confirm the exact item
Use the tooltip or upgrade panel so a similar icon, chip, data item, or component does not send the search down the wrong route.
- 02
Open the goods view
Find the item in the Stock Exchange and inspect where it is manufactured and consumed.
- 03
Locate current stations
Check station ownership, faction Technology, travel time, and available missions at the relevant destination.
- 04
Choose the acquisition channel
Decide whether trade, mission reward, enemy equipment, container loot, dismantling, or crafting is the realistic route.
- 05
Target a suitable contract
Match the station and mission type to the likely container or enemy family rather than searching arbitrary floors.
- 06
Extract the first copy
Reserve space, stop optional clearing, and use protected evacuation when the item unlocks permanent progress.
Match the item to an acquisition channel
| Signal | Check next | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Listed manufacturer | Stations controlled by that producer and its current Technology | Assuming every produced item is always in trade stock |
| Listed consumer | Demanding stations and barter value | Confusing where an item is wanted with where it is found |
| Faction equipment | Enemies, rewards, crates, and recipes tied to that faction | Farming a faction before it reaches the necessary Technology |
| Upgrade component | Upgrade panel, station type, objective containers, dismantling | Selling or repairing with the first required copy |
| Quest item | Mission log and active story route | Following a generic loot guide or selling it casually |
Production is filtered by the current campaign
Station ownership can move, factions advance, and missions change. A guide can identify the system and category, but the live map decides which opportunity exists now.
If a named station no longer belongs to the expected corporation, search the corporation and item again. Do not repeatedly run the old location merely because a pre-1.0 post named it.
Mission type and map family matter
Objective containers and station layouts can bias what is practical to find. Sabotage objective areas are commonly checked for upgrade materials, while enemies are better targets for currently equipped faction gear.
The correct mission is one where the item channel and the extraction risk align. A five-floor contract against a bad resistance profile may be a poor farm even if its theoretical loot pool is correct.
When the item still does not appear
- Verify spelling and distinguish chips, data items, components, containers, and finished equipment.
- Check whether the producer has reached the required Technology.
- Confirm current station ownership and that a relevant mission is actually available.
- Try the correct acquisition channel instead of treating manufacturing, consumption, and drops as synonyms.
- Record version and campaign state before comparing another player's result.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Does a matching station category guarantee my item?
No. The September community investigation highlights container and mission differences, and its estimates still require checking. Confirm the exact item and acquisition channel instead of treating a category label as a fixed drop location.
Does every Quasimorph item have a fixed location?
No. Production, ownership, Technology, missions, enemies, and loot pools can vary. Use live item and station information to construct a current route.
Where can I see who manufactures an item?
Use the goods section of the Stock Exchange, select the exact item, and inspect its manufacturer and consumer information.
Why is an item missing from the named station?
Ownership or Technology may differ, the item may use another acquisition channel, or a historical guide may describe an older version.
Is this item-location guide current for Quasimorph 1.0?
The page uses 1.0 as its baseline and labels older or uncertain details. Check the update line and linked sources before relying on exact numbers.
Does this site copy the official wiki?
No. It summarizes and organizes verified facts for specific search questions, then links the original sources so readers can audit details.
